As we continue to grapple with this pandemic and work to improve our vaccination efforts, I toured two vaccine deployment locations in Harnett and Moore Counties last week. These visits are important for me to learn what's happening here at home so when I go to Washington, I am able to advocate for the needs of our community.

Following a tour of one of Moore County's COVID-19 vaccination sites on Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson said he would advocate for more shots needed to inoculate the area's large population of older adults.

People 65 and older are currently prioritized for vaccination in North Carolina. But serving this group is a difficult undertaking in Moore County, where senior citizens account for nearly a quarter of the population.

ANGIER, N.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) toured two vaccine deployment locations yesterday in Harnett and Moore Counties to get an update about the rollout in our community. Last week, Rep. Hudson received an update at a Cabarrus County vaccination site.
"Seeing the vaccine rollout in our community firsthand provides valuable feedback on what our region needs," said Rep. Hudson.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Nearly seventy-six years after his service in World War II, veteran Ormand Strickland was presented with the Bronze Star today by U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08). During a ceremony at Fayetteville Fire Department #14, Rep. Hudson thanked Strickland for his service as he presented him with the award, which Rep. Hudson worked to secure over the past year.

World War II veteran Ormand Strickland has three cases of military awards and honors, including a Purple Heart for combat injuries.

Strickland, 95, of Wendell, shies away from speaking about the awards.

"I don't know so much about talking about it," he said.

But through the efforts of family friend, Fayetteville Councilman Johnny Dawkins, Strickland's family, and staffers in Rep. Richard Hudson's office, Strickland was presented Wednesday with another award — the Bronze Star — tied to his World War II service.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) introduced an amendment today to provide $1 billion for vaccines for teachers. During a markup in the House Energy and Commerce Committee on the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2021, Rep. Hudson offered the amendment to add the funding that will prioritize COVID-19 vaccines for teachers so that schools can reopen as quickly as possible.

TROY — U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson has nominated 20 students from throughout the 8th District to U.S. service academies. Montgomery and Moore counties are among the areas this district includes. During a ceremony on Feb. 9 at Montgomery Community College in Troy, Rep. Hudson congratulated the students and thanked them for their willingness to serve our country.

The following students of Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines were nominated to service academies:
