Community Project Funding

The U.S. House of Representatives is formally accepting Member Designated Project requests from House Members for possible inclusion in this year’s appropriations authorization processes.  Congressman Richard Hudson has recommended that the following projects in North Carolina’s Ninth Congressional District be considered to receive funding through the Member Designated Project process.

Projects are listed in alphabetical order by the project sponsor or intended recipient below.

Title of Request: Automated Infantry Platoon Battle Course

Proposed Recipient: Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg

Amount of the Request: $14,200,000

PurposeThis project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it provides funding to construct a standard Infantry Platoon Battle Course. This will allow for the training and qualification requirements of infantry platoons, either mounted or dismounted, on movement techniques and operations. This complex will be used to train and test platoons on the skills necessary to conduct tactical movement techniques and to detect, identify, engage, and defeat stationary and moving armor and infantry targets in a tactical array.

Title of Request: Aircraft Maintenance Hangar

Proposed Recipient: North Carolina National Guard

Amount of the Request: $59,000,000

Purpose: This project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it provides funding towards a new hangar for the North Carolina Army National Guard Raleigh Duram International Flight Facility. This hangar will provide required environmental shelter, maintenance areas, necessary workspace for unit personnel and support for assigned aircraft; Apache Attack Helicopter (AH64E) and Blackhawk Utility Helicopter (UH60M).

Title of Request: Child Development Center

Proposed Recipient: Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg

Amount of the Request: $39,000,000

Purpose: This project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will construct a much-needed Child Development Center supporting facilities at Fort Liberty (Fort Bragg), North Carolina. This is an important step in addressing the shortage of childcare centers and resources available to our Service Members and their families.

Proposed RecipientFort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg

Amount of the Request: $58,000,000

Purpose: This project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will modernize schools on Fort Liberty for the children of service men and women.

Title of Request: Special Operations Forces Camp Mackall Company Operations Facility

Proposed Recipient: Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg

Amount of the Request: $30,000,000

Purpose: This project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will modernize Special Operation Forces (SOF) Company Operations Facilities including company administrative and readiness module with Multi-purpose rooms, and Team Rooms with Instructor space.
