The lame-duck session ended for the U.S. House last week. The Senate is still considering the $1.1 trillion “cromnibus” that would avert a government shutdown.

Fort Bragg's congresswoman has introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would bar the military from closing a Fort Bragg unit.
Rep. Renee Ellmers introduced the legislation Monday morning. Rep. David Price, who represents Fayetteville, and Reps. Richard Hudson and Mike McIntyre, who also represent the area around Fort Bragg, were co-sponsors, officials said.
