Hudson Fights to Cut Spending to Pre-Obama Levels
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Tonight, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after offering an amendment to the FY16 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (H.R. 2028) to cut spending to FY 2008 levels:
“Since my first days in Congress, I have fought to cut spending and tackle our debt by rolling back spending to pre-Obama levels. Our country is facing enormous debt and economic uncertainty, and Washington can’t continue to kick the can down the road. I recognize bold conservative ideas like this are needed to get our fiscal house in order, and I urge my colleagues to support this amendment. I will continue to fight against Washington’s reckless spending habits to save our tax dollars and get our economy back on track.”
Rep. Hudson’s amendment to the FY16 Energy and Water Appropriations Act would cut spending by nearly $2 billion, with an across the board cut of 11.1208 percent back to FY 2008 levels. The cuts do not apply to defense accounts in the bill. To read the amendment, click here.
The amendment is supported by Heritage Action, National Taxpayers Union and FreedomWorks.
