WASHINGTON — Following an agricultural tour that included Rowan County, U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson introduced an anti-death tax bill Thursday.

The Farmers Against Crippling Taxes, nicknamed FACT, aims to eliminate the death tax imposed on the transfer of estate property currently taxed when the property owner dies.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Almost 200 people came to a town hall meeting in Kannapolis on Thursday night to voice support for gun rights and to oppose federal gun-control legislation.

The event was organized by We the People N.C. Inc., a Concord-based conservative group promoting limited government and free markets, and featured Eighth U.S. District Congressman Richard Hudson, former N.C. State Rep. Glen Bradley and representatives from Grassroots N.C., a gun rights organization.

SALISBURY — Rowan farmers dug into issues ranging from a possible farm bill to low-income nutrition programs during U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson’s agricultural tour stop at the Rowan County Farm Bureau Wednesday.

The Republican congressman planned the visit as part of a series of farm-focused stopovers in North Carolina’s 8th District, which he represents. The district now covers much of southern and eastern Rowan.

U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson stopped in Linwood on Wednesday afternoon as part of his 8th Congressional District Farm Tour to update local farm bureaus on the Farm Bill as well as get farmers' feedback on issues important to them, such as immigration reform and the elimination of estate taxes.
