Flight attendants to protest new TSA rule allowing small knives

The government’s transportation security subcommittee will focus on the controversial TSA change that would allow passengers to carry small knives on planes Thursday.

But flight attendants are doing everything they can to stop it.

The attendants have been very vocal about the TSA’s decision to make the changes and they are escalating their complaints to Washington.

Five flight attendant unions are going to protest on Capitol Hill ahead of Thursday’s hearing.

They will have support from a Rep. Ed Markey from Massachusetts. He is working on legislation to stop the changes.

A representative from the Association of Flight Attendants wants lawmakers to support the bill.

“We have to stop this policy before it goes into effect. It was blades that caused the destruction of Sept. 11. It was blades that took my friends from me on Sept. 11 and it was blades that changed my profession forever,” said Association of Flight Attendants representative Sara Nelson.

U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson, who is from Cabarrus County, chairs a subcommittee that will meet Thursday afternoon to discuss the new TSA changes.
