Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) introduced H.R. 5265 to rename the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) community outpatient clinic in Hamlet, North Carolina after Army Command Sergeant Major Edward James O'Neal. This legislation was cosponsored by every member of the North Carolina Congressional Delegation.

Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) applauded passage of H.R. 4984–the Empowering Students through Enhanced Financial Counseling Act. Introduced last month by Reps. Hudson, Brett Guthrie (KY-02), and Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01), this bipartisan legislation will promote financial literacy through enhanced counseling for all recipients of federal financial aid to help students make smart decisions about financing their higher education.

The House has unanimously passed three bills that aim to bolster security at airports, provide oversight of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Office of Inspection, and simplify travel for veterans.

They include H.R. 4802, the Airport Security Enhancement Act of 2014, which was introduced by Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman Richard Hudson (R-NC). Its goals include improving intergovernmental planning for and communication during security incidents at domestic airports.

The conservative congressman who represents parts of Davidson County joined Democratic President Barack Obama as the president signed a workforce retraining reform bill that Hudson supported. The event marked the first time that Hudson attended a bill-signing ceremony at the White House.
