Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) joined Rep. John Katko (NY-24), Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (TX-10), and Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX-28) to introduce the bipartisan Cuban Airport Security Act of 2016 (H.R. 5728) to prohibit scheduled passenger air transportation between the United States and Cuba until a study has been completed regarding security measures and equipment at Cuba's airports.

WASHINGTON (WBTV) - Representative Richard Hudson (R-08) is one of two congressmen to write US Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx over security concerns surrounding air travel between the United States and Cuba.
Hudson has been vocal about his questions about security at Cuban airports since the country failed to issue visas to him and other congressman who planned to travel to Cuba to study the issue.

A Republican lawmaker has proposed an amendment to an appropriations bill that would effectively ban Environmental Protection Agency employees from flying around the country on the taxpayer’s dime.

North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson put forward an amendment barring “funds made available by this Act may be used may be used to pay the costs of any officer or employee of the [EPA] for official travel by airplane.”

As noted by Bloomberg reporter Anthony Adragna, it would basically make it so no EPA employee could fly on an airplane — unless of course they paid for it themselves.

Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) spoke on the House floor in support of his amendment to block future Obama Administration regulations. His amendment – which would prohibit funds from the appropriations bill from being used to propose or finalize a regulatory action until January 21, 2017 – was adopted by voice to the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act for FY17(H.R. 5485).

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives will consider H.R. 5485, the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, introduced by Congressman Ander Crenshaw (R-Fla.). This legislation allocates 2017 federal funding for numerous agencies including the Treasury Department, the IRS, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the FCC.
One amendment (#86), introduced by Congressman Richard Hudson (R-NC) blocks all regulations from being proposed or finalized for the remainder of the Obama administration.
