ROWAN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) visited the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury Thursday.

Hudson discussed improvements to the facility while he was there.

SALISBURY — U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson says there’s still time to pass health care reform before the end of the year, and the U.S. Senate is to blame for failing to do so.
Hudson, a Republican who represents the 8th Congressional District, made his remarks after attending a ceremony at which he received an award for introducing a bill related to emergency medical services. His bill would give paramedics and other EMS workers a standing order to administer narcotics, anti-seizure medications and other controlled substances.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Veterans groups cheered the passage last week of legislation that would extend the amount of time service members and their families have to use education benefits that are available to them under the GI Bill.

Currently, the GI Bill helps pay for tuition, books and other costs associated with college for service members or their family members for a 15-year window after completing the military.

Harris of Jackson Springs and Sergeant Jonathon M. Hunter of Columbus, Indiana, both infantrymen assigned to 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division who were killed in an attack in Afghanistan.

SPRING LAKE — U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson has introduced a bill to rename the Spring Lake post office in honor of the late town historian and former postmaster.

Hudson, whose 8th District includes Spring Lake, especially values Howard Pate Jr.’s dedication to the nation as a member of the Armed Forces.

All House of Representatives members of the North Carolina delegation signed on in support of Hudson’s legislation, according to a news release from Hudson’s office.
