SPRING LAKE — U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson has introduced a bill to rename the Spring Lake post office in honor of the late town historian and former postmaster.

Hudson, whose 8th District includes Spring Lake, especially values Howard Pate Jr.’s dedication to the nation as a member of the Armed Forces.

All House of Representatives members of the North Carolina delegation signed on in support of Hudson’s legislation, according to a news release from Hudson’s office.

Today U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), member of the Energy and Commerce Committee's Energy Subcommittee, spoke on the House floor in support of H.R. 2786, a bipartisan bill he introduced with Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) to responsibly tap into energy resources and roll back burdensome federal regulations on conduit hydropower projects. The bill passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support, 420-2.

Congressman Richard Hudson has opened a local office in Boyd Library at Sandhills Community College.

“It was important for me to have an office here,” Hudson said Monday morning during a ribbon cutting and reception in the Teresa C. Wood Reading Room of the library. “I am committed to this county. … I want to continue to work for you. You may not always agree with me, but you will know where I stand and know that I base my decisions on principals.”
