The Aberdeen Fire Department announced that they were presented with a check from Congressman Richard Hudson on Thursday.
The Fire Department was awarded a $486,611 grant from the Department of Homeland Security’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program.

Uwharrie Mercantile, located in the historic 1909 Hotel Troy, is a coffee and gift shop run by owners Dana and Ray Dawson.
The Dawsons are a young, retired military family who moved back to Montgomery County in 2010, took a risk and purchased the Hotel Troy property.
