On Saturday, May 4, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) announced at an awards ceremony and reception held at the Cabarrus County Governmental Center that Abigail Avila, a student at Concord High School, won first place in North Carolina's Eighth District Congressional Art Competition. This year's competition was held in remembrance of legendary NASCAR artist Sam Bass, Rep. Hudson's constituent and friend who recently passed away.

On Friday, March 22, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) hosted a ceremony to officially rename the Spring Lake Post Office after Howard B. Pate, Jr., Spring Lake's late historian and former postmaster. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the United States Postal Service (USPS). Rep. Hudson was joined by Mr. Pate's family, friends, and local leaders to mark the special occasion.
