But this year, Rush altered the language of the bill and stripped out a key element: Hudson.


“He reintroduced it, and he’s added all this money to it and didn’t consult me,” the North Carolina Republican said.

Fort Bragg and congressional leaders say they are working to address issues with military housing

Pennalla Evans was at Fort Bragg for three days when she first called to report a problem in her military housing in May 2015.

Her air conditioner had stopped working in the humid spring heat.

Evans' home in the St. Mere Eglise neighborhood is one of 6,150 homes managed by Corvias, Fort Bragg's private military housing contractor.

SPRING LAKE — Mildred Pate said her late husband, Howard B. Pate Jr., would be honored to have the town post office named for him.
“He would probably think it’s not necessary,” she said, “but he would think it was wonderful, really.”

The post office at 225 N. Main St. is scheduled to be named for Pate, a town historian and former postmaster, in a ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.

CONCORD — U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson, who presents the 8th District, is accepting artwork from area high school students for the 2019 Congressional Art Competition.

The contest is being held in remembrance of legendary NASCAR artist Sam Bass, Hudson’s constituent and friend who passed away in February.

Each spring, members of the U.S. House sponsor the competition to recognize the artistic talents of students. Since 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb released draft guidance Wednesday to crack down on fruity e-cigarette flavors blamed for a vaping epidemic among teenagers.

The proposal, which will be open for comment for 30 days, says vendors must take steps to keep e-cigarettes with flavors like berry and watermelon away from minors, such as only selling them in rooms where juveniles aren’t allowed.

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--United States Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC) is the new co-chair of the Congressional Direct Selling Caucus in the 116th Congress. The caucus was established in 2015, as a bipartisan forum to build greater awareness about direct selling and policy issues relevant to the business. Representative Hudson will replace outgoing co-chair, U.S. Representative Marcia Blackburn (R-TN), who was elected to the United States Senate in 2018. He joins Representative Marc Veasey (D-TX) in co-chairing the 40-member bipartisan caucus.

After spending time with Pinehurst resident Rich Stayskal and his wife Megan, I left their home with several impressions.

First, I was humbled from witnessing the courage of this young couple and grateful for the opportunity to tell their story. Moreover, both Rich and his wife made it very clear how much Rich loves the military and his country.

If I was experiencing what Rich and Megan have gone through, I am not sure I would feel the same.
