Hudson Applauds Sec. Mattis’ Address to GOP Retreat
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va.– Today U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), Fort Bragg’s Congressman and an outspoken advocate for North Carolina's military community, released the following statement after Defense Secretary James Mattis addressed the House and Senate Republican conference in West Virginia:
“Sec. Mattis was terrific laying out the threats we face and the damage defense cuts have done in the last ten years – compounded by budget uncertainty. Our men and women in uniform are operating under enormous strain, and that has deadly consequences. Our troops at Fort Bragg represent the tip of the spear, and I have seen firsthand the stress on both them and their families from operating in multiple theaters and simultaneously preparing for future threats. These patriots are the first to respond to a crisis and they must be given the resources they need to fight and win. I agree with Sec. Mattis – every day we live under a continuing resolution is a day that we do extensive damage to our military. We need a long-term spending bill so the Pentagon can adequately plan for the future.”
