Veteran U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson of North Carolina was elected Tuesday by fellow House Republicans as leader of their campaign and fundraising arm to help get GOP candidates elected to the chamber.
Hudson was unopposed in running to become the next National Republican Congressional Committee chairman, picked by new and returning colleagues meeting in Washington. He succeeds Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., who on Tuesday was elected the House GOP caucus whip.
Hudson joined the House in 2013 and got reelected last week, winning the 9th Congressional District seat.

RALEIGH, N.C. — U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson of North Carolina was selected by his Republican colleagues on Tuesday to lead the National Republican Congressional Committee, the top fundraising committee that works to elect GOP congressional candidates.
Hudson has been in the U.S. House since 2013, where he’s steadily risen up the GOP ladder and currently serves in House leadership as the Republican Conference Secretary.
North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson, a former chief of staff to two of his colleagues who also led the House GOP’s incumbent protection program in this cycle, will chair the National Republican Congressional Committee ahead of the 2024 election.

Republican U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson was re-elected to a sixth term representing the 9th Congressional District, with all but 12 precincts still out as of 10:15 p.m., according to complete, but unofficial returns announced late Tuesday evening.
Hudson claimed the congressional seat by a more than 30,000-vote margin over Democratic challenger Ben Clark, securing 56.7 percent of the vote.
