Transportation Security Chairman Hudson Responds to Airport Security Lapse in Newark

ROCKINGHAM- Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), Chairman of the Transportation Security Subcommittee, released the following statement in response to a report revealing details of a botched security test by TSA at Newark Airport.

"I am extremely concerned that such a significant lapse in security could happen at any airport, much less one of the nation’s busiest, and continue to receive updates on how this serious situation occurred. I am determined to work with TSA to improve their procedures to make traveling more efficient and advance procedures that balance security with passengers' privacy and time. I look forward to getting straight answers on this serious security lapse from TSA Administrator Pistole when he testifies before my Subcommittee next week."

Reutersreported the details of a routine TSA security test in which screeners failed to prevent a fake IED from passing through the security checkpoint. The full article can be read here.
