Hudson Votes to Strengthen College Savings Plans
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 529. In stark contrast to President Obama’s misguided proposal in his original budget to raise taxes on college savings accounts, this bipartisan legislation will expand, modernize and strengthen 529 savings accounts and help families plan and save for the rising cost of tuition.
“My top priority is jobs, and improving access to quality, affordable education is a critical step to increasing opportunity and getting North Carolinians back to work. Today’s bipartisan bill to make 529 plans more accessible and efficient will empower more families to save for college and help prepare students for tomorrow’s jobs.”
