Hudson Votes to Rein in Job-Killing Regulations
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after voting in support of the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act (H.R. 427):
“My top three priorities have been and will continue to be jobs, jobs and jobs. At a time when our economy is sputtering along and too many folks are looking for work, the last thing we need is burdensome regulations that raise prices for hardworking families and cost jobs. Today’s legislation will prevent a hail storm of costly regulations from Washington bureaucrats who show little regard for the real world damage of their new rules on job creation and our economy.”
Federal regulations cost Americans $1.88 trillion in 2014 alone, with small businesses and manufacturers bearing the brunt of these costs. Getting big government out of the way and enacting regulatory reform through the REINS Act and other pro-growth measures is a pillar of Rep. Hudson’s jobs plan.
The REINS Act will require any rule or regulation with an economic impact of $100 million or more per year to come before Congress for a vote before taking effect. It will prevent our bloated bureaucracy from crushing our manufacturers and small businesses with unnecessary costs and empower them to grow, expand and hire people.
