Hudson Votes to Prioritize Veteran Care
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after voting to break down the bureaucracy at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and prioritize veteran care:
“Let’s be clear, the problems at the VA aren’t from just one bad apple or a lack of tax payer dollars - it’s a rotten culture of unaccountability that puts bureaucrats over veterans. There is no excuse for the wait times, backlogs and misuse of tax dollars - our veterans deserve answers and real solutions, and today’s legislation is a modest step in that direction.”
Well over a year since the horrifying scandal at the VA, only 3 VA employees involved in the scandal have been fired or held accountable. Today the House passed the VA Accountability Act (H.R. 1994) to streamline the process for removing VA employees for poor performance or misconduct and establish whistleblower protections.
Rep. Hudson has been a staunch advocate for fixing the VA by first allowing all service connected veterans to choose care from private providers in their local communities and having the VA pay for it.
