Hudson Votes to Fund and Arm Israel

November 2, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) joined  members of the House of Representatives in passing the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, an emergency supplemental appropriations bill that is supplying Israel with the resources needed to defend itself against the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists.

“Israel has every right to defend itself against the barbaric attacks launched by Hamas, and the United States should stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our ally in this terrible time,” said Rep. Hudson. “Today and everyday, I will stand with Israel and continue to pray for the innocent victims and their families.”

The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act ensures American military readiness by replenishing domestic defense stockpiles and bolstering Israel’s defensive capabilities including the Iron Dome and stockpiles of munitions. In addition, the legislation supports American citizens and personnel by increasing our security presence at the U.S. Embassy and providing resources to evacuate U.S. citizens.

The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act is fully offset by recisions from President Biden's Inflation "Expansion" Act of 2022, specifically the enhanced funding for the IRS. To read the legislation, click here(link is external)

Last week, Rep. Hudson voted to pass the bipartisan H.Res. 771, “Standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists.” To read the full text of the resolution supporting Israel, click here(link is external).

As a champion of the U.S.–Israel relationship, Rep. Hudson has also cosponsored the following pieces of legislation in the 118th Congress:

  • H.R.3792 – the U.S.-Israel Partnership and Abraham Accords Enhancement Act of 2023.

  • H.Res.346 – Reaffirming the support of the United States to our strongest ally in the region, Israel, and recognizing the authoritarian and extremist regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a threat to Israel, the region, the United States, and global stability.

  • H.Con.Res.57 – Expressing the sense of Congress supporting the State of Israel.
