Hudson Votes for National Defense Bill, Secures Funding for NC Military Families and Infrastructure

July 14, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) released the following statement on the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that was passed today in the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support:

“Bolstering our nation's defense capabilities and improving the quality of life for our military servicemembers and their families is a top priority of mine,” said Rep. Hudson. “I am thrilled I was able to deliver over $260 million in funding for critical infrastructure projects in our community. As the representative of the largest army base in the world, I'll never stop fighting to support our men and women in uniform and their families.”

The House’s FY24 NDAA, and the FY24 House Military Construction Appropriations package contains Rep. Hudson’s following priorities to benefit active duty military personnel and their families at Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg:

  • Barracks - $50,000,000
  • Barracks (Facility Prototyping) - $85,000,000
  • Automated Record Fire Range (ARF+) - $19,500,000
  • Aircraft Maintenance Hangar - $61,000,000
  • Child Development Center - $36,000,000
  • Camp Mackall Microgrid - $10,500,000
  • Provision to improve Fort Liberty Roadway Infrastructure

In addition, both of Rep. Hudson’s funding requests were fully supported. These requests included funding for the construction of permanent Aircraft Maintenance Hangar facilities to accommodate aircrafts serving the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and a Child Development Center to serve military families stationed in the region.

The FY24 NDAA that passed the House today provides for the needs of servicemembers and their families through a pay increase, improved housing and access to healthcare, while equipping our military with the tools and resources to counter the rapidly growing threats from foreign adversaries.
