Hudson Votes for Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) voted today for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 4712). The pro-life bill requires that babies who survive an attempted abortion be given the same medical care and protection as any other child. Today’s vote took place during the 45th annual March For Life, marking 45 years since Roe v. Wade was decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.
“I am committed to protecting the most vulnerable among us,” said Rep. Hudson. “As hundreds of thousands of Americans march today in support of life, I proudly voted to defend it and ensure that babies who survive abortions have the protections they need to live.”
In addition to protecting abortion survivors, H.R. 4712 also protects mothers from prosecution and establishes criminal penalties for abortion practitioners who harm or kill babies born alive or attempt to harvest body parts. Under the bill, anyone who intentionally kills or attempts to kill a child born alive shall be punished under the federal laws against murder.
