Hudson Surveys Florence Damage in Hoke County, Provides Constituents Resources
RAEFORD, N.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after traveling across the eighth district and stopping in every county to meet with Emergency Management officials and other local leaders, learn more about response and recovery efforts, and talk with constituents in shelters. On Saturday, Rep. Hudson was briefed on emergency response efforts and surveyed storm damage in Hoke County with Emergency Coordinator Andrew Jacobs and County Commissioner Robert Wright, pictured below.
“My wife Renee and I are heartbroken to see the devastation from Hurricane Florence, and we will continue to pray for our state,” said Rep. Hudson. “Here in Hoke County, we experienced pretty bad flooding that forced evacuations, threatened our dams, washed away roads and damaged homes. I’m pleased with the coordination between local, state and federal partners on preparation and response efforts. I’ll continue to make this a team effort to ensure we have what we need to rebuild.”
The district includes Cumberland, Hoke, Moore, Montgomery, Stanly, Cabarrus and Rowan Counties. He has been working closely with local and state partners to ensure our community has the resources necessary to rebuild. As of today, Hoke County’s Disaster Declaration is “In Process.” Individual Assistance (IA) is an important resource for community members recovering from a disaster. Public Assistance (PA) is federal assistance to state, tribal and local government and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities, which may include debris removal, emergency protective measures, roads/bridges, water control facilities, buildings/equipment, utilities, and parks/recreational facilities.
