Hudson Supports National Defense Bill, Secures Millions in Funding for NC Military Personnel
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) released the following statement on the Conference Report of the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that was passed today in the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support:
“This year’s NDAA bolsters our nation's defense capabilities to keep up with foreign adversaries, eliminates the woke ideology infiltrating our military, and takes care of our men and women in uniform by providing the largest pay raise in over 20 years,” said Rep. Hudson. “As the representative of the largest Army base in the world, I'm proud of everything we have accomplished so far this Congress to strengthen our nation’s defense and military readiness and provide necessary resources for Fort Liberty. I will never stop fighting to make sure our community's veterans, troops, and their families receive the support they deserve.”
The FY24 NDAA contains Rep. Hudson’s following priorities to benefit active duty military personnel and their families at Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg:
- Aircraft Maintenance Hangar - $61,000,000
- Child Development Center - $36,000,000
- Barracks - $50,000,000
- Barracks (Facility Prototyping) - $85,000,000
- Automated Record Fire Range (ARF+) - $19,500,000
- Camp Mackall Microgrid - $10,500,000
- Provision to improve Fort Liberty Roadway Infrastructure
The FY24 NDAA that passed the House contains the following priorities:
- Supports a 5.2% increase in servicemember basic pay—the largest pay raise in over 20 years.
- Provides a path back to service for the 8,000 servicemembers discharged for declining to take the COVID-19 vaccine, and requires the Secretary of Defense to inform each discharged servicemember of the process they can follow to be reinstated.
- Prohibits funding for the teaching, training, or promotion of CRT in the military, including at service academies and DoD schools.
- Builds and maintains the overmatch needed to counter CCP aggression by enhancing military readiness.
- Freezes the creation of new positions related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and adds a pay cap for DEI employees.
- Fully funds deployment of National Guard troops in support of Border Patrol activities at the southwest border.
- Provides unprecedented levels of support for the security of Israel.
The FY24 NDAA saves American taxpayers $37 billion or 5% of current Department of Defense spending levels by cutting inefficient defense programs, obsolete weapons systems, and unnecessary Pentagon bureaucracy.
