Hudson Statement on Tax Day 2018
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement on Tax Day:
“Tax day is one of the most stressful – and dreaded – days of the year,” said Rep. Hudson. “But this year there is optimism because this is the last time American taxpayers will use the old, complicated, and horrible tax code. We are welcoming a simpler tax code that lets hardworking Americans keep more of their paychecks. I am proud to have worked with President Donald Trump to increase the child tax credit, lower tax rates and nearly double the standard deduction. We have delivered real relief for individuals and families.”
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is the most sweeping, pro-growth tax reform in more than 30 years. The law overhauled America’s tax code to lower taxes on families, workers and small businesses. By lowering taxes across the board, eliminating special-interest loopholes, and simplifying our tax system, the law has already started to deliver more jobs, bigger paychecks, and economic growth for all Americans. This week, the House is also taking action to reform the IRS and dramatically refocus the IRS back to its “taxpayer first” mission.
