Hudson Statement on Omnibus Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement on passage of the $1.1 trillion FY16 omnibus appropriations bill:
“At a time when our country is facing enormous debt, tough decisions must be made to get our country back on track and today’s legislation just doesn’t cut it. It busts through agreed upon spending levels by nearly $50 billion and wastes more of our tax dollars. In addition, it misses too many opportunities to rein in Obama’s harmful agenda and fails to advance the American people's priorities, namely defunding Planned Parenthood while we investigate their horrific practices and bolstering the Syrian and Iraqi vetting process to protect our country from foreign terrorism. It also fails to rein in an out of control EPA, a FDA that is targeting our tobacco farmers and it funds Obama's green agenda. While I understand there are some good policy measures, I’m looking at the bigger picture and I can’t support legislation that fails to address our biggest problems and burdens future generations with more debt.”
