Hudson Statement on Historic Singapore Summit
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement on the historic bilateral summit between the United States and North Korea in Singapore:
“For far too long, the dangerous and destabilizing actions of North Korea have threatened the Korean peninsula, the United States and our allies,” said Rep. Hudson. “This brutal regime was given the space to pursue and develop nuclear capabilities, to continue threatening countries around the world, and to commit terrible human rights atrocities against its own people. I congratulate President Donald Trump for his strong leadership that made this historic summit possible. I remain cautiously optimistic this agreement is a first step towards peace and a complete and verifiable denuclearization of North Korea. I also thank President Trump for making the recovery of American POW/MIA remains part of the agreement.”
