Hudson Secures Victory for Hearing Enhancers, 2A Rights
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), author of the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017(link is external), released the following statement after the House passed bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) user fee programs, including his language to prohibit the regulation of hearing devices designed to be used in connection with hunting or other exercises of Second Amendment rights:
“Today’s bill is critical because it will keep the innovation pipeline for cures, treatments and drugs open for patients. Additionally, it includes my language that protects hearing enhancers and devices used by hunters and bird watchers from potential bureaucratic government overreach. It’s a small win for common sense, our freedoms and our Second Amendment rights.”
Rep. Hudson’s amendment prohibits the regulation of any “personal sound amplification product intended to amplify sound for nonhearing impaired consumers in situations including hunting and bird-watching.”
