January 24, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Richard Hudson (R-NC), Chairman of the Committee on Political Affairs and Security of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), released the following statement after participating in a OSCE PA Bureau meeting:

"The U.S. and our allies must remain committed to deterring further Russian aggression. We are resolved that Putin must stand down and move troops away from Ukraine's border. Additionally, I continue to call on President Biden to increase direct lethal military aid to Ukraine," said Rep. Hudson. "Putin and his regime must stop their efforts to destabilize and bully other countries and live up to Russia’s international obligations and commitments, including the principles of the Helsinki Final Act."

Today's virtual OSCE PA Bureau meeting consisted of parliamentarians from numerous OSCE countries. As a leading United States representative in the Assembly, Rep. Hudson has served as Chairman of the OSCE PA Committee on Political Affairs and Security since 2020. In his remarks today, Rep. Hudson reaffirmed the commitment of his committee to addressing the tensions in Ukraine. Last week, Rep. Hudson released a statement against Russia's aggression and detailed efforts he's led to support Ukraine and oppose Russia's Nord Stream II pipeline.
