Hudson Releases Statement on Troops Placed on High Alert over Russian Aggression
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC), Fort Bragg's Congressman, released the following statement on U.S. service members being placed on high alert following rising tension between Russia and Ukraine:
"President Biden’s failed foreign policy and weakness on the national stage have emboldened Vladimir Putin and led directly to the crises today. The debacle in Afghanistan, gifting Russia the Nord Stream II pipeline, refusing to provide lethal aide to Ukraine, and saying he expects Russia to make an 'incursion into Ukraine' have further destabilized the region and made the world less safe.
"I have called on the President to show strength and deter Russian aggression. Russia and the world must know the U.S. will never waiver on our commitment to our NATO allies and our friends.
"The simple truth is that when politicians fail, the men and women of our military are often called on to clean up the mess. To be clear, I do not support sending US troops into Ukraine. However, Renee and I are praying for our troops and their families as many from our community are placed on high alert to deploy to the region."
