Hudson Releases Statement on Concealed Carry Ruling

June 23, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC), the leading defender of the Second Amendment in Congress and the author of H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v Bruen:

"Today's ruling is a huge victory for the preservation of the U.S. Constitution and the rights of millions of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their families. The natural 'right of the people to keep and bear Arms,' as protected in the Constitution, has been under assault by those pushing for gun control measures at every level. As a tireless defender of our Second Amendment, I will continue to advance the common sense and bipartisan H.R. 38 to ensure these rights are granted to law-abiding citizens across our nation."

Rep. Hudson's H.R. 38 would allow people with state-issued concealed carry licenses or permits to conceal a handgun in any other state, as long as the permit holder follows the laws of that state. The bill previously passed the House in 2017 before failing to pass in the Senate. This Congress, the bill now has 202 bipartisan cosponsors.
