Hudson Presents Indian Trail Student with Congressional Award
CONCORD-Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) issued the following statement after presenting the Congressional Award to J. Parker Garrison for success in volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration.
“As a member of the program’s Board of Directors, I am a big advocate for the Congressional Award because it challenges our young Americans to improve themselves while giving back to the local community. It provides our kids the opportunity to build character and starts them on the path towards a lifetime of success. Instead of wasting time on video games, this young man spent over 100 hours serving our community and helping those in need. He set challenging goals for himself and achieved those goals, and I applaud his hard work and success.”
The Congressional Award was established in 1979 by Congress to recognize initiative, service and achievement in our young people throughout the United States. It recognizes personal accomplishments and success in volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration. Participants are encouraged to set their own goals and work to achieve those goals at their own pace.
