Hudson: End Exemptions for Big Business and Congress
WASHINGTON- U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after the House voted for a third time to keep the government open. The latest Continuing Resolution to pass the House includes a one-year delay of Obamacare’s individual mandate and stops health care subsidies for members of Congress and staff.
“From the beginning of this budget debate, I have been very clear about my desire to keep the government open for business while defunding the President’s harmful healthcare law. Because of Obamacare’s obvious flaws, the President has carved out delays and exemptions for big businesses and the politically connected, but has ignored the needs of hardworking middle class Americans. Delaying the individual mandate and preventing special exemptions for Congress is a matter of fairness, and I strongly encourage Senate Democrats to do what’s best for the American people and pass the House CR.”
