Hudson Co-Chairs Atlantic Offshore Energy Caucus
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Yesterday, members of three southeastern states united to kick-off the newly formed Atlantic Offshore Energy Caucus. Co-Chairs Rep. Richard Hudson (NC-08), Rep. Jeff Duncan (SC-03), and Rep. Scott Rigell (VA-02) join as leaders of the caucus to advance policies that explore and expand energy production in the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf as part of an all-of-the-above national energy strategy. In a concerted effort to press towards expanding energy development along our coasts, the caucus intends to guide the debate forward, stressing the incredible opportunity southeastern states have to harvest the energy from the Atlantic.
Congressman Richard Hudson:
“I have been a staunch advocate for getting North Carolina into the energy business, and I am proud to join my colleagues on this caucus to advance policies that will make this goal a reality,” said Hudson.
“North American energy security, lower costs and more jobs are on the horizon, but inefficient red tape and regulations are blocking the way. I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance an all-of-the-above energy strategy that cuts through the burdensome regulations and responsibly unlocks our natural resources."
Congressman Jeff Duncan:
“Not only do we have a tremendous opportunity to expand energy development along the southeastern coastline, but also the responsibility to make North American energy security a reality,” said Duncan.
“I have been a passionate advocate for using free market ingenuity to harness the potential energy sources off the coast of South Carolina. Moreover, I believe the people of our southeastern coastal states have a chance to benefit from the enormous degree of economic opportunity gained by energy production. I, along with my colleagues in the caucus will continue to be on the front lines of the energy debate by advocating for less burdensome regulations, as well as calling for restraint of overzealous bureaucrats. We need to let the people succeed, and I believe North American energy security poses the greatest opportunity to increase prosperity across our nation.”
Congressman Scott Rigell:
“I’m thrilled to join my colleagues in forming the Atlantic Offshore Energy Caucus. Energy represents the number one opportunity for job creation and economic growth in this country, and alignment in this area is critical,” said Rigell.
“The President’s proposal this week about Atlantic energy development demonstrates the strong need for members of states who can benefit from coastal energy to come together with one voice. The Gulf Coast is proof that energy can change a region and improve the lives of those who live there. The Atlantic Coast can benefit just as much -- but only if the Administration gets out of the way and lets us gallop on this.”
