Hudson Celebrates MilConVA Passage, Big Wins for Veterans & Fort Liberty
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (MilConVA), which provides funding for military construction and family housing. This legislation also fully funds veterans' benefits programs, such as those related to disability and pension benefits, education, healthcare, and insurance and loan programs.
"As the representative of the largest military base in the world, my priority is to ensure Washington works for the thousands of brave men and women who sacrifice so much for our freedoms," said Rep. Hudson."I am proud to secure big wins for our troops, their families, and our veterans, and will continue fighting to ensure they have the support they deserve."
Funding Rep. Hudson fought for and secured in the FY 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg, includes:
- $14.2 million for the Department of the Army Automated Infantry Platoon Battle Course
- $30 million for the Department of the Army SOF Mackall Company Operations Facilities
- $4 million for the Department of the Army Child Development Center to improve the existing deficit of Child Development Center spaces which create an unnecessary hardship on soldiers and their families stationed at the installation.
- $11.8 million for the Department of the Army SOF Arms Room Addition
- $16 billion for Department of Veterans Affairs mental health programs, including $3 billion for suicide prevention.
- Report language regarding Department of Veterans Affairs Traumatic Brain Injury Program
FY 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act
Honors our commitment to veterans by:
- Providing nearly $75.5 million above the President's Budget request for veterans' health care, benefits, and VA programs, including toxic exposures-related needs
Supports a strong national security by:
- Providing nearly $412 million above the President's Budget Request for military construction, focusing investments in the Indo-Pacific region, on barracks and military family housing, and other quality-of-life projects; and
- Maintaining the prohibitions on the closure of Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and the use of military construction funds to build facilities for detainees on U.S. soil.
Focuses the Executive Branch on its core responsibilities by:
- Includes provisions prohibiting funds to lobby Congress, promote or advance critical race theory, and enforce the Biden Administration's executive orders on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
