Hudson Applauds Court for Blocking EPA’s Water Rule
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement applauding a federal court’s actions to block the administration’s Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule:
“Washington wants to regulate our mill ponds, irrigation ditches and creeks, which is a tremendous threat to our private property rights – and the court agrees. With this ruling, common sense prevails and farmers, producers, and property owners in North Carolina are breathing a sigh of relief. I applaud the court’s decision to block the rule and will continue to fight to protect North Carolina from Washington’s out-of-control regulatory agenda.”
A federal court has issued a nationwide stay on the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) WOTUS rule, suspending the rule's implementation nationwide.
Rep. Hudson has been working to protect North Carolinians and block the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WOTUS rule. In May, he voted for The Regulatory Integrity Protection Act (H.R. 1732) which would require the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to withdraw consideration of WOTUS, a rule that seeks to redefine navigable waters and drastically expand the Clean Water Act (CWA) jurisdiction to irrigation ditches, ponds, creeks, and streams as well as other waters traditionally regulated by states.
This misguided power grab would give limitless federal control over nearly all state and local waters and have devastating economic consequences for farmers, property owners and communities in North Carolina.
