Hudson Announces New Guidelines for the Congressional Art Competition

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) has announced new guidelines for the annual Congressional Art Competition. Due to COVID-19 (coronavirus), all artwork for this year's competition will need to be submitted virtually by teachers and school personnel, not students themselves. The new deadline to submit artwork is May 28, 2020.

"I look forward to hosting the Congressional Art Competition each year to highlight the talent of high school students throughout our district. While this year is different, I am proud to still allow our students to participate and look forward to this year's competition," said Rep. Hudson.

When framed, artwork must be no larger than 26 inches x 26 inches x 4 inches deep. Submissions and a student release form should be sent to tanner.hood@mail.house.gov.

Since the Artistic Discovery Contest hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives began in 1982, over 650,000 high school students have participated in the competition. The contest is open to all high school students. The winner of our district's competition will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside artwork from other contest winners across the nation.

Submissions will be judged by an independent committee and winners will be announced on June 4.
