It's been a tragic week for our country.
On Thursday, we lost 13 brave U.S. service members in the horrific attack on Kabul's airport. These members of the Marines, Navy and Army were among those sent to Afghanistan to rescue our citizens and allies.

Family members and lawmakers, in Washington, D.C., and Raleigh, representing N.C. residents are mourning the deaths of a Marine and soldier who died in a terrorist attack while helping Americans and others evacuate from Afghanistan. Thirteen service members, including a Fort Bragg soldier and Camp Lejuene Marine, died while supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel, the Department of Defense announced Saturday, Aug. 28.

We honor their legacy and the sacrifice that they made on behalf of this great nation. To the 13 new Gold Star families, please know your loved ones died as heroes and we will always honor their memories.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), Fort Bragg's Congressman, released the following statement mourning the loss of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ryan C. Knauss in Thursday's attack in Kabul. Staff Sergeant Knauss was assigned to B Company, 9th Psychological Battalion, 8th Psychological Operations Group, Fort Bragg, NC.
"Renee and I join our country in praying for the family of Staff Sergeant Ryan Knauss, including his wife in Pinebluff and his extended family in Tennessee and Florida," said Rep. Hudson.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), Fort Bragg's Congressman, released the following statement after today's deadly attack at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul that resulted in the loss of numerous U.S. service members:
"Today's attack is horrific and utterly devastating. As Fort Bragg's Congressman, I am livid President Biden's failed withdrawal has now led to a number of U.S. service member casualties.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – In a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken from Rep. Richard Hudson, there is great concern about what appears to be a major email misstep.

Hudson said the email that was intended to instruct American citizens to make their way to the airport in Kabul was also sent to Afghan nationals, special immigrant visa applicants, and allies who have applied for evacuation.

Hudson also said the email included an officials Department of State access pass.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) is urging Secretary of State Antony Blinken to provide immediate assistance and a plan to secure the safety of American citizens and allies still in Afghanistan. In a letter sent today, Rep. Hudson sounded the alarm on examples of misleading information from the State Department that has put citizens and allies at risk.
