Racing returned to the Charlotte Motor Speedway last week better than ever.
From James Bond’s Daniel Craig waving the green flag to the packed stands, I enjoyed attending the Roval 400 with my family and seeing many of you there. The speedway means so much to our community and economy, and racing’s full return following the pandemic is great news for our region.

U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson presented three students from Cabarrus County with the Congressional Award on Thursday at his Concord office.
The Congressional Award is a non-partisan, voluntary and non-competitive award for achieving goals in volunteering, character development, and fitness.
All three Cabarrus recipients received the Silver Award after completing 400 hours of public service and personal improvement.

100 hours of personal development

RALEIGH — Several of North Carolina’s U.S. House Republicans have signed onto letters demanding answers from U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland following Garland directing the FBI to investigate school-board protests around the country.
On Oct. 4, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memorandum directing the FBI to investigate “threats” to school boards and education personnel in every state.
The $778 billion Department of Defense funding bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives last month includes a number of measures that could impact the greater Fort Bragg community.
U.S. Rep., Richard Hudson, whose district includes Fort Bragg and about half of Moore County, praised some of the provisions, such as a 2.7 percent pay raise for troops in addition to a basic needs allowance for low-income servicemembers. The legislation would also fund $27.2 million in infrastructure projects at Fort Bragg.
