North Carolina pastor Andrew Brunson, held on terrorism charges in Turkey for more than two years, left the country Friday and was on his way to the United States.

Brunson, who is from Black Mountain, is expected to visit the Oval Office on Saturday, President Donald Trump said Friday evening.

Brunson, 50, started the Izmir Resurrection Church in western Turkey, where he has lived much of his life. Brunson was arrested in October 2016, months after a failed coup attempt in the country. He faced charges of espionage and aiding terrorist groups.

NORTH CAROLINA -- Ivanka Trump is stopping in North Carolina to get a look at how technical colleges are preparing worker for the future and tour Florence disaster areas.

She made her first stop at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville Wednesday morning. The visit is part of an administrative push on vocational skills training.

President Trump's daughter and senior adviser met with drivers and officials at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville.

The visit was part of the White House's push for vocational and skills training.

She also met with members of the Mooresville Fire Department who were deployed to help during Hurricane Florence.

MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - Daughter of President Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, made two stops in Mooresville Wednesday before heading to eastern North Carolina to observe damage from Hurricane Florence.

The White House made the announcement of Ivanka’s visit earlier this week.

Ivanka Trump, daughter of and adviser to President Donald Trump, paid a visit to the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville on Wednesday to lend her support to the organization's mission.

The NASCAR Technical Institute provides students with training in the automotive and computer numerical-control machining industries. It opened in 2002.

Trump participated in a tour and program demonstrations while visiting the institute.
