REPUBLICAN RICHARD HUDSON LOOKS TO PREVENT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FROM GETTING MEDICAID: Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., introduced a bill to protect federal Medicaid funding from being used to provide health coverage to undocumented immigrants. California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom recently announced plans to push for Medicaid coverage for California’s undocumented immigrant population, which could require federal funding to implement the measure while California’s program Medi-Cal would shoulder the costs of the benefits provided. Hudson said his bill would close such a loophole.
