October 20, 2015
A new NCWorks Career Center is now open in Concord at 845 Church St. North, Suite 201. The Centralina Workforce Development Board is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebrate its grand opening.
The career center serves businesses and job seekers throughout Cabarrus County. It provides services including job placement, education, on-the-job training programs and laid-off worker assistance.
The center’s new “customer-centered” facility includes conference rooms, space for workshops and offices for employers and partner agencies’ use, according to a recent statement.
Tuesday’s ribbon cutting at 12:30 p.m. is open to Cabarrus County officials, partner agencies, employers and guests, who can tour the facility and meet the staff. Officials attending the opening include the center’s new leader, Gary Mason; U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson; and the mayors of Concord and Kannapolis, J. Scott Padgett and Darrell Hinnant.
The Centralina Workforce Development Board oversees the operation of every NCWorks Career Center (formerly known as the Employment Security Commission or unemployment office) in Anson, Cabarrus, Iredell, Lincoln, Rowan, Stanly and Union counties.
