'In God We Trust' Decals in China Grove Causing Controversy
January 7, 2016
CHINA GROVE -- Decals on police and fire department vehicles in China Grove are causing controversy. The new decals read, “In God We Trust,” and are supported by Rep. Richard Hudson.
Hudson released a statement saying: “At a time when our country faces serious challenges, I’m proud to represent a patriotic community who recognizes the strength, importance and value of our national motto, ‘In God We Trust.’ Like the Pledge of Allegiance, the American flag, and our national anthem, our national motto is a critical part of America’s founding and it will continue to be our guiding principle.”
The new decals have prompted dialogue on the China Grove Police Department’s Facebook page, which led the department to address the matter.
In a post, the department said that they respect everyone’s opinions, even if they disagree, and that everyone should be respectful to each other or comments would continue to be removed.
