Hudson to host Service Academy Day
U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC) announced he will be hosting his annual Service Academy Day on Saturday, April 14, in Charlotte and in Fayetteville with Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-NC).
Eighth- and ninth-district students who are in middle and high school and interested in attending a Service Academy and their parents are encouraged to attend. Representatives from the Service Academies as well as cadets and midshipmen will be on hand to explain the nomination process and requirements.
The events are the Charlotte Service Academy Day, hosted by Reps. Hudson and Pittenger, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Charlotte Catholic High School, 7702 Pineville-Matthews Road in Charlotte; and the Fayetteville Service Academy Day, hosted by Reps. Hudson and Pittenger, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fayetteville Tech Community College, General Classroom Building, Rooms 114 & 109, 2817 Fort Bragg Road in Fayetteville.
As representative of North Carolina’s eighth congressional district, Hudson can nominate a limited number of young men and women each year to four of the five service academies: U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. For more information on the nominating process, constituents should go to Hudson’s website at hudson.house.gov or contact the Concord office at 704-786-1612.
