Congressman to deliver mail in Granite Quarry on Friday

January 28, 2016
GRANITE QUARRY, NC (WBTV) - It's not something you would expect to see everyday, but on Friday a United Congressman will make a few home mail deliveries in Granite Quarry to celebrate the town's new "mail status."

U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R, NC-08) will join Granite Quarry Mayor Bill Feather and the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail to Granite Quarry residents and businesses.

Until November of last year, many Granite Quarry residents and businesses had to use "Salisbury, NC 28146″ because mail delivered to Granite Quarry addresses comes from the Salisbury post office.

The town tried to address the issue for years, but were repeatedly denied the change. After Rep. Hudson pushed, USPS finally allowed businesses and residents to use "Granite Quarry" as part of their mailing addresses.

Congressman Hudson and Mayor Feather will make their rounds Friday afternoon.
