Committee-Led Ceiling Fan Legislation Clears Full House of Representatives

March 19, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC – The House of Representatives today unanimously passed S. 2030, the Ceiling Fan Conservation Harmonization Act by voice vote. Nearly identical legislation authored by Rep. Richard Hudson (H.R. 3477) passed the committee in January.

S. 2030 (H.R. 3477), would align the compliance dates for new ceiling fan efficiency standards. Currently, the compliance date for the latest ceiling fan light kit standard is January 7, 2019, while the compliance date for the ceiling fan standard is January 21, 2020. This legislation would make the compliance date for both standards, January 21, 2020.

“Although ceiling fan regulations may not be a front burner issue, we ought to take every opportunity to streamline federal regulations and help keep compliance costs down,” said #SubEnergy Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI). “This legislation should ease the compliance burden for some manufacturers, make things easier for retailers, and may help lower costs for consumers.”
