Hudson, Tillis Bill Signed Into Law
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) and Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) released the following statements after President Donald Trump signed their bipartisan bill, the Ceiling Fan Energy Conservation Harmonization Act:
“I am glad to see this bipartisan bill to streamline regulations on ceiling fans and save consumers money signed into law,” said Rep. Hudson.“Although this issue probably won’t get too many headlines, it is one more example of how I’m working to bring common sense to Washington and get government out of the way.”
“I am glad this bipartisan legislation to streamline the efficiency standards for ceiling fans has been signed into law by President Trump,” said Senator Tillis. “This commonsense, bipartisan law provides regulatory relief that will protect American families from being penalized with higher costs.”
H.R. 3477, the Ceiling Fan Energy Conservation Harmonization Act is a common sense measure to streamline two upcoming regulations on ceiling fans and save consumers money. Previously, the compliance date for latest ceiling fan light kit standard was January 7, 2019, while the compliance date for the ceiling fan standard was January 21, 2020. These two separate compliance dates for ceiling fan regulations were threatening to raise the price on a product that we all depend on in our homes and businesses. This legislation makes the date of compliance for both standards January 21, 2020, saving consumers money. It's simply common sense. The bill is supported by Retail Industry Leaders Association.
