Hudson Surveys Florence Damage in Montgomery County, Provides Constituents Resources
TROY, N.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement after traveling across the eighth district to meet with Emergency Management officials and other local leaders, learn more about response and recovery efforts, and talk with constituents in shelters. On Tuesday, Rep. Hudson met with Emergency Management Director Robbie Smith and Troy Mayor Roy Maness, spoke with and thanked emergency management officials, and visited impacted areas, including the Troy Wastewater Treatment facility, pictured below.
“My wife Renee and I are heartbroken to see the devastation from Hurricane Florence, and we will continue to pray for our state,” said Rep. Hudson. “I visited the emergency operations center and met with local leaders to survey impacted parts of our community – including the Troy Water Treatment facility. From severe wind damage that knocked down trees, to excessive rain and flooding that washed away roads and damaged homes, Florence wreaked havoc on our community. I will continue to work with state and local officials to ensure we have what we need to rebuild.”

The eighth district includes Cumberland, Hoke, Moore, Montgomery, Stanly, Cabarrus and Rowan Counties. Rep. Hudson has been working closely with local and state partners to ensure our community has the resources necessary to rebuild. In addition, constituents of North Carolina’s eighth district can find important information, including emergency resources and contact information, here.
As of today, Montgomery County’s Disaster Declaration is “In Process.” Individual Assistance (IA) is an important resource for community members recovering from a disaster. Public Assistance (PA) is federal assistance to state, tribal and local government and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities, which may include debris removal, emergency protective measures, roads/bridges, water control facilities, buildings/equipment, utilities, and parks/recreational facilities.
As always, if constituents need help resolving an issue with a federal agency or finding the right resources, they can call Rep. Hudson’s Concord office at 704-786-1612, his Fayetteville office at 910-997-2070, his Pinehurst office at 910-246-5374 or visit Hudson.House.gov.
