Hudson Statement on 3 Fort Bragg Soldiers Killed in Niger
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08), the representative of Fort Bragg, released the following statement after the Department of Defense announced the deaths of three soldiers who were assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne):
“My wife Renee and I join Fort Bragg and the Special Forces community in mourning three of their comrades. We send our condolences and prayers to the friends and families of Staff Sgt. Black, Staff Sgt. Johnson, and Staff Sgt. Wright. We pray they feel God’s comfort and know we are standing with them and support them – always. These elite soldiers have served in the most dangerous corners of the world, always ready and willing to put country before self. We are grateful for their service and will strive to honor their sacrifice.”
The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of three soldiers who were part of a joint U.S. and Nigerien train, advise and assist mission. They died Oct. 4 in southwest Niger, as a result of hostile fire while on a reconnaissance patrol. All soldiers were assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C. The incident is under investigation. Killed were: Staff Sgt. Bryan C. Black, 35, of Puyallup, Washington Staff Sgt. Jeremiah W. Johnson, 39, of Springboro, Ohio Staff Sgt. Dustin M.
