Hudson Statement on Iran Nuclear Agreement
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement in response to the announcement that U.S. negotiators concluded a final agreement on Iran’s nuclear program:
“With this historic mistake, President Obama has formally blessed the illegal nuclear weapons program of the world's number one sponsor of terrorism, and Congress is all but powerless to block it. That's why I voted against the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act.
“It's astounding the administration has moved from a policy of preventing Iran from having a nuclear weapons capability to a policy of simply delaying it while funneling billions of dollars in sanctions relief into Iran’s pocket so they can continue to fund terrorism and stockpile conventional arms and ballistic weapons. The devil’s in the details, and I fear this deal will turn the most brutal and anti-American nation in the world into a nuclear power, plunge the Middle East into a nuclear arms race and threaten the security of the entire world.”
